Support Engineer

As a Barclays Support Engineer, you will become a key member of our team as a high calibre senior Java developer/engineer for our strategic technology application. In this role you will join a global team dedicated to assisting the technology environment, ensuring the smooth running of production systems and providing an exceptional level of service to business and downstream users. There will be exposure to front-office trading, operations and finance users.
Salary / Rate Minimum: $90,000
Salary / Rate Maximum: $121,000

What will you be doing?
• Providing help for Equities Derivatives applications during US hours and assisting the Application Management function with problem records and high severity incidents
• Developing specialist knowledge in relevant systems, sharing that knowledge, as required, with global teams
• Liaising with Business users and IT counterparts on potential process improvements
• Liaising with development teams on future applications and improvements
• Taking ownership of issues through to resolution escalation as appropriate
• Delivering of all agreed change to time, quality and cost parameters
• Improving pro-actively the quality of systems and service, and increase business value
• Undertaking projects as required, including but not restricted the following areas capacity and performance management, monitoring , Infrastructure upgrades , reporting and documentation
What we’re looking for:
• Two to three years of years of experience in a Production support /Trade floor support role and Equity Derivatives technology experience in a related front-office application support
• Experience of both Windows and UNIX platforms
• Experience in Oracle PL/SQL, Autosys
• Familiarity with Scripting in Python, Shell/Perl
Skills that will help you in the role:
• ITIL knowledge
• Equity Derivative product knowledge
• Experience in assisting with Risk Management Applications
