Our Inclusion Coordinator supports campers and staff at Camp Holloway or Camp Sycamore Hills summer camp programs. They will:
Coach counselors and campers who are adapting to camp in areas including but not limited to: homesickness, communal living, making friends, etc.
Respond to and assist with camper conflict, camper behavior challenges, homesickness, and other camper issues.
Supporting and guiding staff with strategies for handling challenging situations.
Ensuring safe and effective camp program by supervising camper and unit counselors in all areas of camper interaction, unit life, schedules, and provide support and resources as needed to campers and staff.
Work with the Health Officer and the admin team to accommodate needs of campers including sharing needed information with relevant staff.
Coordinating consistent camp-wide responses to camper issues as needed
Informing other members of the admin team of any issues that arise
Assisting Unit Leaders and the Admin team in communicating with parents as necessary including prior to camper arrival.
Be a good role model for all campers and staff by participating in meals, camp activities, all camp activities, unit time activities, etc.
Contact families prior to camp attendance to discuss questions concerning medical, emotional, physical or dietary needs a camper might have.
Participate in the planning and conducting of staff training especially related to social and emotional well-being, camper challenges, and mental health.
Qualifications
Background in social work, counseling, psychology, special education, or occupational therapy
Knowledge of the Girl Scout program desirable.
Camp experience is desirable
Current First Aid/CPR certification required.
Must hold a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal background check.
Desired skills
Experience working with children with a variety of social/emotional diagnoses in a childcare or school setting.
Ability to de-escalate tense situations
Ability to coach staff or children who need assistance managing behaviors or other issues
